Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams (GTLE) 2026, How to Register, Fees and NTC Terms

If you finished College of Education or you have Bachelor of Education and you want to teach in Ghana, you MUST pass the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). Without it, Ghana Education Service will not employ you. The National Teaching Council (NTC) has released the modalities for 2026.

Here is the simple breakdown. Who Can Register for GTLE 2026? According to NTC Act 1023, you are eligible only if:

  • You hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Diploma in Basic Education (DBE) alone is no longer accepted for fresh registration.
  • If you schooled outside Ghana, you must get a certificate evaluation report from Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) before you register.
  • Re-sit candidates who failed one or more papers last year are also eligible.

Before anything you must check if your school has uploaded your details.

Fresh candidates must pay an indexing fee of GH₵50.00. Re-sit candidates don’t pay for indexing again.
