GES Official SHS Prospectus 2026/27 — Full List of Items for Boarding & Day Students
Good news for parents. Ghana Education Service (GES) has finally released the National Harmonised Prospectus for 2026/27 Academic Year. This means no more different, expensive lists from headmasters.
If your child was placed into SHS this year, this is the ONLY prospectus you are supposed to buy. Any school that adds extra items apart from this list is doing illegal, you can report to GES.
I have broken down the list from GES for you so you can understand and budget.

This is where parents get confused. GES says you are required to buy items from ANY ONE of the following groups. Don’t buy all. Choose ONE group only.
GROUP 1

- Liquid Soap (5 Litres)
- 1Kg Washing Powdered Soap
GROUP 2
- 1 Bleach (Small Size)
- 1 Dust Pan
- 1 Long Handle Broom
- 1 Scrubbing Brush
GROUP 3
- 1 Standing Mop and Mop Bucket
- 1 Duster
- 1 Short Local Broom
What About Day Students?
Day students do NOT need to buy:
- Trunk, Chop Box, Mattress, Pillow, Bedsheets, Blanket, Bucket, Mosquito Net
But Day students NEED:
- All school-specific uniforms (White shirts, Khaki trousers, White dress, Checked dress)
- School Bag, Mathematical Set & Calculator
- Sandals, Shoe, Belt, Socks (school colours)
- Toiletries for personal use
- PLUS one Group item (Group 1, 2 or 3)
So if you are Day student, your cost is almost half.
Important Notice from GES (NB):
All personal items should be embossed or embroidered with the student’s name.
Don’t wait till September ending, prices of trunks and mattresses may go up by 40% on placement week.
Advice:
1. Buy trunk and chop box now at Kaneshie, not at school gate.
2. Don’t sew uniform until you know your school’s specific colour e.g., some schools use brown sandals, some black.
3. Keep the GES image on your phone, if any SHS adds “6 packets of toilet roll, 2 tins of milk, cutlass money GH₵100”, that is NOT in GES list. Report to GES through their official channels
