Renowned legal luminary and governance advocate, Professor Stephen Kwaku Asare, popularly known as Kwaku Azar, has congratulated veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr. on receiving an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
In a post on his Facebook page sighted by HeraldGH, Kwaku Azar, who writes as GOGO, described the honour as a well-deserved recognition of Pratt’s decades of work in journalism, activism, advocacy for civil liberties and unwavering commitment to Pan-Africanism.

He noted that the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper has remained steadfastly CPP, even though the original party died in 1966 and enjoyed only a brief reincarnation in 1979.
According to GOGO, Kwesi Pratt was a crucial member of the Alliance for Change, working alongside ideological opponents to advance political freedom in Ghana.
He added that the veteran journalist has also paid a personal price for his convictions, enduring repeated political detention, including imprisonment at Nsawam.
”And then there is his legendary ability to offer extensive commentary on virtually every subject, always sprinkled with humour, history and memorable anecdotes,” Kwaku Azar wrote.
He concluded that one need not agree with Kwesi Pratt on every issue to acknowledge his consistency, courage and immense contribution to Ghana’s political and media landscape.
The University of Cape Coast conferred the honorary Doctor of Letters on Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr. in recognition of his contribution to journalism and public discourse in Ghana.
