NPP Clears Kwasi Bonzoh to Contest Western Regional Executive Elections

The NPP clears Kwasi Bonzoh to contest the party’s Western Regional Executive Committee elections after the National Steering Committee upheld a petition challenging his earlier disqualification from the race.

In a directive dated August 3, 2026, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) announced that it had reviewed Mr. Bonzoh’s petition, which was submitted under Regulation 9 of the Rules and Regulations for the Conduct of the Regional Executive Committee Elections.

According to a letter signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Danquah Buttey Smith, the National Steering Committee carefully considered the matter before deciding to overturn the earlier decision.

The letter stated that the NPP clears Kwasi Bonzoh to participate fully in the Western Regional Executive Committee elections.

“Following its deliberations, the National Steering Committee resolved that Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh be cleared to contest the Western Regional Executive Elections. Accordingly, he is hereby officially cleared to participate as a candidate in the elections,” the directive said.

The National Steering Committee also instructed the Western Regional Steering Committee to immediately implement the decision and ensure full compliance with the party’s directive.

The NPP clears Kwasi Bonzoh decision reverses an earlier ruling by the party’s Vetting Committee and Regional Appeals Committee, which had disqualified him from contesting for the position of Western Regional Secretary.

Mr. Bonzoh had initially been ruled ineligible after the committees concluded that he did not satisfy the minimum educational qualification required for the position.

With the latest decision by the National Steering Committee, Mr. Bonzoh has now been reinstated as a candidate and will be allowed to contest in the upcoming Western Regional Executive Committee elections.
